We offer a wide variety of training and education opportunities suitable for all health care professionals. We have also developed core training sessions designed specifically for those in the field of Recreation Therapy. For those desiring in-house training, we also custom design training courses specific to your needs. Course times are indicated beside each course name, but many of our corporate clients choose to incorporate a full training day of in-house training covering condensed versions of multiple courses. Training needs can be specific, and each of our proposals will reflect uniqueness in cost and design.

Therapeutic Communication - 3 hours

Communication is driven by both words and actions. Key competencies in powerful communication include understanding different learning styles and how to adapt the power of language to create open channels of understanding and communication with everyone you interact with, professionally and personally.

Program Planning - 3 hours

Designing a good program isn't easy work. Learn how to make the most of your valuable time by using a standard approach to programming. Practice the skills used to create measurable outcomes and identify target domains.

Refresh & Renew - 3 hours

Everyone needs a chance to step back and re-energize themselves. Learn simple steps to create joy and energy in your environment, how to combat energy vampires, and how to use simple tools such as motivation and recognition to improve interpersonal relationships.

Creativity & Resources - 3 hours

It's challenging to come up with fresh new ideas all the time, and then try to find the funds to support your program materials. Learn how to make use of those ‘unwanted' or ‘vague' donations that always seem to end up in a bag outside your door. Discover unique places to find discounted, or even free, supplies that you can use in your programming.

Emotional Intelligence & Leadership - One day or Two day option*

Using the framework designed by Dr. Daniel Goleman, you will gain a better understanding of how emotions, and the expression of your emotions, can influence your environment to be a better place. These emotions often form the background, or base, for the messages you are sending to your clientele, peers and management. Learning to recognize and direct your puts you in a position of power to decrease conflict and influence your environment to create a bigger, better and more positive workplace.

*Emotional Intelligence component can stand alone as a compressed ½ day version if required.

Personality Dimensions - Various course lengths available 

Personality Dimensions is a new and exciting opportunity to gain insight and a deeper understanding of ourselves and others. Presented in a workshop style that is lively, highly interactive, informative and fun, participants will become familiar with the characteristics, strengths, skills and values of the different personality types. Using self-assessment tools, discover your unique personality type and how you can apply this knowledge to strengthen interpersonal relationships, both professionally and personally.

Introduction to The Active Brain™ - 1 day

An invaluable resource for all caregivers; family, friends, care staff, and volunteers. This interactive day will give you the tools you need to feel more confident in providing meaningful and purposeful interactions throughout the process of Alzheimer's. We'll cover topics such as:

• The seven stages of Alzheimer's: what to expect and strategies to deal with it
• How Alzheimer's affects memory and learning
• Meaningful and purposeful interactions designed for adults
• Breakout Groups: share your experiences, make new friends, develop a bigger support network, develop individual strategies for self-care and client care
• Practice art therapy: in class activities that provide a positive and safe atmosphere for emotional release through the use of art
